Heck, I know a vista fix that can be extracted to the directory. Works like a charm!

This is awesome steve! Way more in depth that the previous links I've looked at, and more in depth than the ones I looked at from the old ssplayers forum site (btw where is feret, i know he doesn't play any more, but he's not even responding to emails now)
I'll try and get Aequitas back in action then, he's itching to get back into the apoc

Alright, I only have XP, and I remember there being a problem about windows not detecting Windows NT 4.0 service pack 3 or something
My older brother, has followed all the steps in installing ss to work on vista so far, but it won't let him install for the reason above
I myself worked through it, but that was a month ago, and as you all know, my memory is in the nutsters, I can't even remember half of my old RA crew haha
Steve help out? Any one? Eye even-- I see you have gotten it to work

He has done everything that has been posted here, and it loads up, but the second he tries to install it, it tells him that it "can't detect windows nt 4 service pack 3"

I see this worked for the Vista load of Starsiege to Vista for the ones that have trouble loading Starsiege to Vista . So if the Starsiege Disk wont load the game try this ok StarsiegeWin2k_US.zip Windows 2000 Installer To install 1.000 on a Win2K machine place the Starsiege CD in your drive and then run this program (3.6MB). (Note: I've never used this installer, so I can't answer questions about it.) cid-aca2b7c7635ceba3.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/Patches%20To%20Starsiege?nl=1&uc=1&isFromRichUpload=1&lc=1033Alright, I only have XP, and I remember there being a problem about windows not detecting Windows NT 4.0 service pack 3 or something My older brother, has followed all the steps in installing ss to work on vista so far, but it won't let him install for the reason above I myself worked through it, but that was a month ago, and as you all know, my memory is in the nutsters, I can't even remember half of my old RA crew haha Steve help out? Using Vista, when I run setup.exe, it never shows up, but there is a stalled setup.exe in my processes, which I have to end. The setup.exe works for about 5 seconds, then stops. Ive tried all matter of combinations using compatibility options, the win2k fix, everything I can think of. I don't have XP available, and I can't seem to get my VirtualPC to work, or I would just install it in a different instance under XP. This was before I saw Steve's post about disabling UAC and DEP, so I tried that, but the command prompt denied access to the BCDS. My question is: Which version of Vista? Home, Pro, or something else? Also, which service pack? I believe I'm using SP2, though I think I tried on SP1, and it failed then, too. I'm using the administrator account, so I'm not sure why any access would be denied. Thanks for any reply.

So, out of nowhere, I tried running the installer without doing anything. Didn't disable UAC, DEP, didn't do ANYTHING, and it installed. I'm so friggin' happy, right? So I extract the mouse fix, update to 1.004, etc., but the mouse still wont work. And, the game won't go fullscreen. So I set all the options like you said, Steve. Still doesn't enable the mouse or go fullscreen. New set of problems, heh.

Akolade don't forget the stand on one foot and spinning while patting your head and tummy during the install. And the prayer to the Windows install god... a sacrifice usually helps too... Thats most important!

Steve, you act like I'm incompetent. I followed all your directions to the letter, and it doesn't work. I'm about to program a workaround myself. This nuts is making me angry. //edit I moved the install to its own directory and it worked. And no, I didn't have to reinstall or restart, so . I hope you're all ready to get your heads ventilated.

I've a little update to the Vista instructions for getting SS to work.

No need to run in any compatibility mode. I run SS in 1024x768 mode, no issues, but it does match the desktop setting. -The mem.dll patch is needed. -So is setting the taskbar to not being always on top. -Vista has a document flip feature if you can get used to not having the taskbar set this way instead of changing the setting when you want to play SS.
