Hi. I'm using Windows 7 x64. Even with the Win2K loader and following all the guides I could find I was unable to get it installed in the first place. Even when ran from the loader, I just got a 'setup.exe' process in the task manager that never opened any windows or did anything. I ended up having to get Windows 98 SE installed into VirtualBox, installing Starsiege there, and copying the resulting directory over to my actual computer.
I patched it to 1.004 US, added the vista mem.dll fix, and updated master.cs. The game runs great in 1600x1200 OpenGL mode. I have desktop compositioning and themes disabled when I launch the game. I can join other servers just fine as well. The problem is that after a certain amount of time (and usually it seems to be just as I'm about to kill something) the game crashes to desktop unexpectedly. I had been using the nocd patch, but I removed it and the same problem remains.
So... I tried running it in my Win98 virtualbox. Since it's not supported by virtualbox, I have no OpenGL support or hardware accelerated drivers so I have to play in Software mode. The game seemed more stable since I can actually get through the single player campaigns, but I randomly crash to desktop in multiplayer games after maybe 5 minutes.
This is incredibly frustrating. Any ideas?

That registry entry is the one the game makes when installed. So it cannot be the problem on the Windows 98 box. And unfortunately, those entries don't work in 64-bit Windows since Starsiege is a 32-bit program and those versions of Windows automatically translate 32-bit registry accesses to another location. I'm attaching a version of the fix that worked for me and should work for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows. Attachments:

The closest thing I can think of why Starsiege exhibits 5 the minute crash is because you are missing the registry entry for Starsiege and the code in console.cs regOk("/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Dynamix/Starsiege", "PATH"); looks for that entry. I think this is Dynamix's jab at preventing people from pirating the game because its pretty easy to just copy the game directory to another computer, far less easier to copy registry entries. The code backfires though when people who have a physical copy of the game have to do what you are doing to play the game. You can get a copy of console.cs at www.planettribes.com/alphablue/ssindex/scripts_vol/console.html, simply copy and paste the script into a new text file and save it as console.cs in the main Starsiege directory. Remove the regOk("/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Dynamix/Starsiege", "PATH"); . You will stop getting the 5 minute crashes. If I were you I would actually burn a clean directory of Starsiege to a CD so you don't have to go through all that work again. The single disk installations of Starsiege appear to install fine on Windows 7 x32/x64. As for the game not rendering correctly (1/4 of the screen), this appears to partially fall upon the video drivers as my older Nvidia drivers I had to disable desktop composition but using the latest Nvidia drivers I can simply install Starsiege and use only the mem.dll fix to run the game. (And the latest drivers don't stretch lower resolutions in Starsiege on widescreens!)

The heading reads: Re:Win7&x64 Issues
I had experiecenced a crashing issue silmlilar to what was posted , but i am running WIn XP 32.
I used PlagurDogs suggestion and copied the Console.cs and removed that bit of code he mentions.
I then when on the servers and was happy when i was in the server at least 1/2 hour with out a crash. I think i even spoke to some players while in the room (Snow as one of them) and told them it must have worked.
When I left that 1st room, the 5 min crashing thingy started again, and stayed that way untill I reinstalled the Retail Disk.
The Retail install "took" this time like it would not do for several yeas before hand.
I did want to Mention it again an not cause any confusion: I never got the SS complete install to work with PlagueDogs Suggestion of the console.cs fix, for the record.
