Hello,
I'm an SS player from back in 2000-01, and I get a hankerin' to play (campaign mode) every year or two. So I downloaded a version of the game from another part of this board, but it was extremely glitchy as in the terrain would start shifting around and when I zoomed it would skip frames and what-not. So I downloaded this version, I had issues with the Human campaign as it would skip a few missions right at the start and the cybrid campaign would have a drop point below ground at about the 2nd mission.
I got past these issues by changing around a bit of the campaign.cs files of the respective campaigns. But there are two issues that I haven't really found a way to get around.
First, let me explain why these parts and the campaign are important to me. When I first got the game I was about 12 years old and the game didnt work for me right away. It took me about 2 months to finally get it to install correctly and play. So in that time I read the "Story Book" that came with the game backwards and forwards and fell in love with the game. I mean I was daydreaming about how I was going to play the game and couldn't wait to get in an Oly even before I started playing. So when I started the game it was like all these characters that I had spent so much time reading about finally came to life, I was fan of Harabec, Caanan and couldn't stand Prometheus and all that and here I was "meeting" them for the first time.
So as you can imagine the campaign is where all that happened and although I spent alot of time in multiplayer and mapping/scripting and all that, I only did that after i'd played the campaigns to my heart's content and got bored with it.
Even after I stopped playing after a few years, I would always want to go back to playing the campaign as it was almost therapeutic.
My biggest issue that i've had with this download (that I couldn't fix) is that alot of the cinematic cut-scenes are not playing in the campaign. I'm not able to relive the epic scenes like when Caanan finally surrenders, "I.... Yield, PHEONIXXXX,". And I can only imagine that the 'brid campaign doesn't have Promy's whole "My children, our wait is over...." spiel.
I don't want to come off as ungrateful for the improvements, but the part I like most about the new ssinstall10 has nothing to do with new qc's or HD menus/glow-mod, it was actually just the higher resolution. That's awesome and thank you very much to whoever did that. I just got bored with multiplayer very quickly as a kid since the fighting is very straight forward and the best configs became pretty well known; 2rail Adj, 2rail apoc/3blast apoc, etc.
How can I bring back the cinematic cut scenes??
If I can even be directed to which part of the HA/B/C_.cs (A/B/C_ being the respective mission number HA0/HA1/HB1 etc..) holds the info on the cut scenes maybe I can just download the original CD version and copy that part over.
Downloading the original unmodded would make sense, but I really don't wanna give up the new skins (or copy over the requisite files) or the amazing resolution.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thx!
