Two problems do I have, and I've been doing this for hours trying to get the @$@%^ game running as it were. gonna throw in the towel for now til I either get an answer or figure it out. it's almost 2 in the morning and i have work tomorrow. zzzzz
Every time I start a new campaign (only tried human so far but 'brid campaign results will prolly be similar), it jumps me right into the Dust to Dust mission with a completely decked out Adjudicator and completely open squad slots. First off, I want to play the solo campaign like it should with no extra vehicles and weapons, and also... why no cutscene? :c I've been looking around and I think I saw something that indicated that the opening cutscene bugs out the whole thing but I don't know for sure if that's what's going on, all the movie files are in the right folder I think, I even recopied them from a SS iso (that wasn't working due to me not finding a disc 2 iso to use the sierra patch on and get my cursor back) just to make sure they were all there.
TLDR pls halp am nub wat do
Hello by the way. new forum user and longtime ss fan since I was a tiny child that shouldn't be playing blowy-uppy games. Never participated in multiplayer before but I might.

Hello!
I just so happened by the forums and saw this post... I normally don't visit so often, but I was bored. Anyhow, on to the question: Open up the Starsiege folder and go to:
campaign -> Human
Find the file called "campaign.cs" and open it. I can't remember the exact line, but I believe it'll look like "bool = true" in a script block that looks like this:
Campaign campaignInfo { name = *IDCMP_NAME_HUMAN; usePlanetInv = true; scanX = "scanX.ddb"; encyclopedia = "encyclopedia.ddb"; curMission = "ha0"; curDate = 28281002; playerTeam = *IDSTR_TEAM_YELLOW; playerRace = *IDSTR_RACE_HUMAN_REBEL; techLevel = 3; cinematicRec = "cinHA.rec"; campaignEndSmk = "human_finale.smk"; };
Just remove the line "bool = true" from that block and save. That should fix your problem.

whoa, was that from memory? impressive if so. the line that seems to match what you're referring to is "usePlanetInv = bool" - should I just delete that whole line then? will that fix me starting right on mars/venus/whereever it is that you start working with the imp knights too? (20 year old spoilers kek)
i'll try it n' see what happens and report back with results. easy enough to put it back if it borks up the game.
EDIT: okay, tried removing the line, but no dice. no change in technology/squad availability, and i still start on the Dust To Dust mission (to clarify that's the one where they're escaping Mars to get away from the 'brids). still no cutscene when I create a new campaign save, either. I can't remember if there's supposed to be one but I feel like there is.
Tested a cybrid campaign loadup too, and it seems to work okay. I'm on the first mission and I don't have an insane inventory. Must be something with the human campaign scripting specifically.

Ah, memory served incorrectly. Change "usePlanetInv = bool" to "usePlanetInv = true". This way it'll require you to use what you earn like you're requesting....I think.

Just did that now, and it fixed the inventory at least-- I'm down to starting with the emanc like I ought to be, so thanks for your help so far. Still starting out on the mars evac mission in the middle of the whole campaign though, and I dunno where I ought to go to fix it. it's almost as if the game is acting like I'm on disc 2 or something.

Well as I recall there seems to be a texture issue with the opening cinematic and the patch that was released not too long ago. I want to say a certain texture tile caused most computers to crash so we adjusted the script to skip that cinematic.
As for the first mission: check the line in that same block of script that I mentioned earlier for "curMission". Next to that line will be something in quotes and the first mission name will be "ha0". Just put that in the quotes and save that should start you out on the first mission with the downed cargo ship I think...

awesome, that script change fixed the thing. thanks for the help. C:
I've since run into a new problem with the second cybrid mission, tho-- it spawns me under the map. >:I what is with my luck with these things? think someone else has reported a similar problem however, so i will go poking around to find a fix.

Hrm...that may also be yet another terrain bug. I'm unaware of what the problem looks like nor have I experienced it myself, but a terrain bug is what it sounds like. The only thing I can think of is just skipping the mission entirely.

Truth be told about that Cybrid mission, it happens to me on the first mission rather than the second. If my own memory serves, all I had to do was keep restarting starsiege until it started behaving. It's like a child sometimes :\

UUGGHH so everything has been going okay so far but now I'm getting a problem with the mission disarm//neutralize... the one where you have to destroy the 4 generators on the moon and then bug out to nav 002 before all the minotaurs ream you. its either bugged or im doing it completely wrong and i've played the mission several times over the last 3-4 days with no luck
i've done this like a million different ways with varying results, but the way that seemed to work best for me actually completing the mission technically is taking a shep with all hatc's and a turbine, getting my squad to wait at the initial spawn point so they don't set off the turrets like dumbasses, and sneaking into just within max range of my hatcs so i can raze the generators and then spamming the turbo to gtfo to nav002 while i order my squad to go to 002 directly as soon as it shows up. however, i don't get a 'mission complete' dialog as soon as i get to nav002, and i should because destroying all enemies is only a secondary objective, and then all the minotaur patrols i just turbo'd to avoid flatten us within another two minutes because i still haven't figured out a good way to deck myself and my squad out to be able take 'em all.
is this actually bugged or am i just being stupid, can someone tell me?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you need to destroy some of the buildings in that mission? I know the enemy patrols are optional. (oddly enough considering the whole, kill all humans aspect)
My veh recommendations are blasters and emp's on as many people as you can. The game is super unbalanced and early on those things are OP.

well as soon as the fourth generator is destroyed nav002 pops up and i get the 'objective complete' cockpitaudio clip (oddly enough, the human campaign one instead of the 'brid one which definitely makes me suspect a bugged mission), and online walkthroughs instruct me to ignore the turrets and other buildings, which i have been.
another weird thing that happened a few times in my many attempts, thinking back: after i destroyed the generators and tried either going to nav002 or killing all the humans, eventually the mission would just randomly fail, even though the time limit disappears once the generators are dead!! not sure if maybe i got killed and my vehicle just didn't fall apart (sometimes happens randomly where destroyed vehicles just kinda stay together without gibbing apart, very weird) or if the game's just bugging out still, but it was super ragequit inducing.

Well, I'm reading the mission scripting right now and from what I can remember and judging based on what I'm reading: you destroy the 4 generators yes... BUT, make sure you also destroy any enemies you encounter before heading towards Nav 002. If what I'm reading in the script is correct the game is checking to make sure you are "safe" when arriving at Nav 002. Assuming there are still enemy vehicles present when you arrive at 002 the game is assuming you aren't "safe" and you run out of time which leads to a mission fail. Bearing this in mind I would highly suggest utilizing a different weapon from the HATC.

looks like you were right. fixed up my loadout and wasted them this time, and i've been cruising through the rest of the luna missions with no further problems so far. thanks again for the help
