Starsiege Vista and widows7 Fix for mouse control
Instructions:
- Extract mem.dll to your Starsiege directory
- Play game!


Unzip to desktop open folder then your see the mem.dll copy it then go to Dynamix folder then open it then your see the starsiege folder open it paste mem.dll in the starsiege folder your done , play game your mouse will now work in Vista and windows7

I see this worked for the Vista load of Starsiege to Vista for the ones that have trouble loading Starsiege to Vista .

Windows 2000 Installer
To install 1.000 on a Win2K machine place the Starsiege CD in your drive and then run this program (3.6MB). (Note: I've never used this installer, so I can't answer questions about it.)

My older brother, has followed all the steps in installing ss to work on vista so far, but it won't let him install for the reason above


So I (eye ) tried it to with vista to check it on a new vista computer and it installed great to Vista and then I added the other stuff the Master and so on ,,

Didnt have to do nothing but run the old 2000 install program to load ( Starsiege to Vista ) I ran the 1004 patch ( Patches
These will upgrade a pristine 1.000 install to various version levels. Version 1.004 is required for play on most public servers, but older versions can be valuable for various reasons.

Ok I better add this U may need to max your page file out on vista OK ..


Now to build another gamer to put windows 7 on it to test it on it .

Note to self I didnt look to see if the mouse worked before adding the Vista Fix that really only adds the mouse ''dll " need to check it out next time !!.

Notes of peoples troubles

Lojik:): I've been trying to run Starsiege in Windowed mode on Vista. It will work fine for several minutes then suddenly crash. Full screen seems to be working great though. Any way to fix windowed mode?


Deep: Lojik, Vista does not agree with Software graphics, and you can only run ss in windowed mode with software graphics, therefor, Windowed = Crash. Every time

You people running Linux you need to make a tread on install of Starsiege from step one to end .

Hey, i recently discovered this forum. I havent played this game since it came out, played it for about 6 months. Got my internet shut off then so I didnt play it anymore.

I discovered my install discs going through some boxes the other day, and decided to install it.

I'm running Windows 7, and these patches dont seem to work. mem.dll made no effective changes whatsoever. I have keyboard support, but no mouse support. Therefore I cant do much.

I'd really like to start playing this game again, but the Vista patches dont seem to apply to Windows 7. Hmm.

Now to make this even longer, I also came upon my Starsiege: TRIBES disc and installed it. Same problem, but I found the following:

the bare mem.dll had no effect either, but the executeables worked PERFECTLY. So if whatever they did could be applied to Starsiege, i think there's a chance it could work.

Could I get some help, here? Would be nice to play this again.

I was in-game with someone who used the Vista Fix(mem.dll) in Win 7 so I know it works.
There is a thread here dedicated to running SS on Vista. Maybe that will help. You can try uninstalling then reinstalling in the following order. Starsiege, then the Vista fix, then the 1.004 patch, THEN start SS for the first time and set the resolution etc.
Not having Win 7 myself, thats all I can suggest for now.

Wow! That actually fixed the problem! But now I can't play it in fullscreen. I've heard multiple complaints of that. Am I stuck playing in Windowed mode?

Scrath all of that. Took care of it, just set it to the lowest resolution possible so that it basically runs full-screen. Thanks for the help, guys. See you in-game!

Change the size of virtual memory

If you receive warnings that your virtual memory is low, you'll need to increase the minimum size of your paging file. Windows sets the initial minimum size of the paging file at the amount of random access memory (RAM) installed on your computer plus 300 megabytes (MB), and the maximum size at 3 times the amount of RAM installed on your computer. If you see warnings at these recommended levels, then increase the minimum and maximum sizes.

1.Open System by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System.

2.In the left pane, click Advanced system settings. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

3.On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.

4.Click the Advanced tab, and then, under Virtual memory, click Change.

5.Clear the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives check box.

6.Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file you want to change.

7.Click Custom size, type a new size in megabytes in the Initial size (MB) or Maximum size (MB) box, click Set, and then click OK.

Increases in size usually don't require a restart, but if you decrease the size, you'll need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect. We recommend that you don't disable or delete the paging file.
